Having collaborated with Massive Attack and Gorillaz, his performances have since seen him perform at Glastonbury, Nile Rodgers’ curated Meltdown Festival and most recently combining his music through art, performance & film at the Tate Modern, the ICA, and Somerset House. He revealed a raw body of work entitled ‘Azekel Unreleased’ in the midst of the Covid-19 lockdown – executively produced by Grammy winner Om’Mas Keith – and since then has turned his own independent label Thunderlightning Recordings into a creative sanctuary for a network of artists and collaborators he works with. With critically-acclaimed releases under his belt that craft his signature enigmatic sound, Azekel finds himself armed in 2021 with fresh sonics that pay homage to the sounds of his cultural heritage.
